About AHG - Australia’s largest motoring group

The Automotive Holdings Group Limited - or AHG - is Australia’s largest motoring group. We operate 103 dealerships across 4 Australian states and New Zealand, and we sell 10 out of Australia’s top 11 passenger vehicle brands.

We love our cars!

Of course, we’re more than just big; we’re an Australia-wide collection of local teams, each with intimate local knowledge and a genuine commitment to its local community. We work hard to build and retain trust in those communities, and we pride ourselves on not being stereotypical car dealerships. We reckon we’re anything but.

Nor were we always so big. (Yes, that’s stating the obvious, but sometimes it’s easy to overlook. And it’s not something we want anyone to overlook, whether they’re customers, employees, manufacturers or investors.) Our roots go all the way back to 1952. About AHG1952

City Motors was established as a Holden Dealership in Perth.

1955

City Motors Holdings Ltd listed on the Perth Stock Exchange.

1962

City Motors Holdings Ltd opened its second Holden Dealership, North City Holden, followed by more, soon after.

1979

Diversified into logistics through the acquisition of the AMCAP business, one of Western Australia’s largest automotive parts distribution centres.

1980

Privatised through a management buyout led by current Directors Vernon Wheatley and Robert Branchi.

1986

Diversified further into logistics through the acquisition of Rand Transport, offering refrigerated transport, cold storage and local distribution services.

1980-1990s

Established a number of new dealerships in the Perth metropolitan marketplace.

1994

Won exclusive Australian distribution rights for prestigious Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM Sportmotorcycles.

2005

Listed on the ASX. Acquired a majority stake in the Perth Auto Alliance, and grew Rand Transport up and down the Eastern seaboard.

2005-Present

As you can see, our growth - our very success - is founded on a longstanding commitment to the regions we service. And a commitment to our core business: giving our customers access to Australia’s best new and used cars, at the best possible prices.
